KOHTALON SINFONIA URUILLA

Johann Sebastian Bach: Toccata ja fuuga d-molli BWV 565

Ludwig van Beethoven: Sinfonia nro 5

2020 was the 250th anniversary year of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven. Kallio Church organist Tommi Niskala arranged the famous Fifth Symphony, ”The Symhony of Fate” for the great symphonic organ of his own church. This instument has a large scale of orchestral colours and resources.

In Finland, organ music in general, is mostly performed in churches, because of the very few number of organs in concert halls. However, traditional organ repertoire includes a huge amount of symphonic music, from which real symphonic concert programs can be built. This concert is a symphonic concert in a miniature form, divided into two parts, in which two real cornerstones of Western classical music encounter.
